Find Out What It Means To Me..

R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Due to the valentines spirit that I'm in (romantic all that junk), I just find something amusing. One thing really sticks out to me about peoples perceptions nowadays.

Why is it necessary for a guy to open a door for a girl or respect only the girl that he likes or wants to show he loves her? When did being a gentleman only count for someone you are in a relationship with? Why do girls not expect to be respected by guys unless they are in a relationship?

In the same way, why does a girl want every guy that she is interested in to ogle at the amount of skin that she is showing, but then gets disgusted when some other guy notices.

GIRLS

Do girls even want to be respected anymore? Seems like they don't make it a requirement for a relationship (you know it's true), and they sure do act like it's an unusual or rare thing when a guy does show some respect.

GUYS

Why do we think that it's only necessary to respect those girls that we are attracted to? Why do we say "Oh she doesn't mind" or "She's cool" whenever we talk about things that would offend any other girl. In my opinion we need to treat all girls with more respect and then maybe those who don't act respectible will improve.

I'm not looking to get a pat on the back for being a gentleman cuz even I need to improve. It just bothers me that I can't even tell a girl she looks nice without everyone thinking that I like her. Especially during this time in my life when I don't really even want a girlfriend. Good grief...

New Information...

So I am really loving the classes that I am taking this year, because I really am learning some useful things that I can share with others. Ready?

So first of all, in my general psychology class, we were talking about vision. A really cool trick is to extend your arms, and give a thumbs up at eye level. Close one eye (it doesn't really matter which one, just pick the one that's easier for you to close), and then move the thumb that's on the opposite side to the left and the right. For a brief second the top of your thumb should disappear. Pretty cool I think. Apparently our eyes have a blind spot. Must suck for pirates. ;)


The second bit of info is a bit more useful. In my social psychology class we talked about an experiment that basically showed that those who bottle up their feelings and keep them suppressed actually take a whole bunch of toll on their immune systems and really weakens them. People like that are a lot more proned to get sick more often.



Remedies you ask?

1) Never dwell on things that hurt you. You can't change the past so you must accept things and move on.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?"

2) Find someone that you can talk to. In addition to friends that you may have around (if you know me then consider me one of those friends), you can also confide in the friend that sticks closer than a brother. God is dying to have a talk with you all the time.

Information Overload...

So today has given me a plethora of information to share with everyone. I will of course attribute each piece of information to the informer...

First of all, in my psychology class today, the professor who's name escapes me taught us that although some liquid in your ears is the main thing that helps a person maintain their balance, your eyesight is also used. So she gave the example of standing on one foot. She had someone do it, and then told them to close their eyes. It was much more difficult for them to stay balanced. Interesting...

Secondly, my good friend, and the Youth Pastor at Turning Point A/G showed me this hilarious video. Check it out...


And lastly my younger brother Randy pointed out another hilarious fact. I won't tell you, but instead I want you to find out for yourself. On the Google search bar on the home page, put in "Find Chuck Norris" and then click on "I'm feeling lucky". See what happens. The results are awesome!

It's a Beautiful Day...

And I'm about to go to another class. The great thing is that I'll get out of class right about the time that it gets dark outside. Cool huh?

Despite all of my negativity, one thing remains about my college experience...

I'm ready to be done!

I would like to take this opportunity, however, to explain my excitement for the up and coming college ministry at my church called The Bridge.

Recently we've been meeting on Sundays for only an hour and we're kinda squeezed in between a couple of other things. There's nothing wrong with that, but in order to effectively expand I think it'll take a little more. That is where the awesomeness comes in. Just recently the announcement was made that we will be moving to a week night were we can be more flexible with time and noise levels. I'm pretty pumped about that. We're even planning on adding some accoustic worship or something. Here soon we'll be publicizing it to the masses at MTSU and the surrounding colleges, but unofficially....

If you love the feeling of an ice cold Dr. Pepper can in your hand, if you savor the taste of animal crackers in all of their mammal goodness, if you enjoy shooting the breeze with fellow Christians who long for God to do some awesome things, if you wanna go where you can see the troubles are all the same and everybody knows your name, and if you long to know and understand the plan of God for us as college folk, then come on down to the Bridge! As of right now it meets on Sundays from 5-6pm at Turning Point Assemblies of God.

Seriously though....it's awesome.

Stupid February...

Hey folks. So I need to get into this whole blogspot thing. That way everyone else can comment. I really am trying, I promise. So nothing too exciting is happening lately. Everything is kinda just normal. I really wonder if maybe I need to stress out a little more, because as of right now everything kinda seems pretty bleh. My classes are not easy, but not difficult enough to where I'm up into all hours studying. My work schedule is just about 40 hours, but I never really feel taxed there either. I'd say the most exciting thing right now is church. We've really been pushing for revival, and God has already given us a taste of something big that's about to happen. Once you experience the Spirit of God like we have been, it's hard to wanna settle for anything less than revival. Our theme this year is "Storm the Gates in 2008." Yes I know it is a cheezy rhyme, but it really does hit home our goal in taking the offensive and giving Satan a run for his money...if he had money that is...

Anyways, Valentines day is rolling around, and for some reason that in no way depresses me. When it hits? Maybe I won't be super excited, but I think I'll be okay. Oh goodness. Now I'm rambling. Does anyone read this blog? Let me know with a simple comment please....
